Organic Coffee – It’s not Just an Ordinary Coffee but It’s Organic

Organic coffee products even more environmentally friendly because it does not use a variety of harmful chemical compounds. So if you drink organic coffee, it means you had a role in the effort to protect the environment.

An organic product is an assurance that is produced without chemical pesticides or fertilizers. In the ecological process, it is also forbidden to use artificial colors, synthetic flavors the and artificial sweeteners.

When it comes to coffee, there are many opportunities to buy organic coffee in supermarkets. Look for the red island brand which is a guarantee that the goods come from a supplier that meets EU rules on organic production. Precisely this Regulation contains a detailed set of rules for both crop production and organic animal husbandry.

Organic Coffee is grown organically without the fertilizers and pesticides. This means that an EU – approved inspectors regularly visited the coffee plantation and ensured that the standard of organic production rules. Coffee is among the organic products is growing rapidly in Denmark.

Awareness of the production and purchase of organic food is growing steadily. More and more people are purchasing organic products feel better, not only for their own health but also from some environmental aspects. The trend of healthy food encourages the development of agriculture which respects the environment and biological farming without fertilizers and other harmful chemicals. The origin and quality of goods are becoming increasingly important factors in the purchase of certain products including coffee.

Cultivation

The primary land cultivation and export of organic coffee is Peru, but are powerful and Mexico and Ethiopia, and Brazil, Venezuela, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala (on which the cultivation of organic coffee has a completely natural way of harvesting – originally from the trees that grow on wild).

According to the Center for Tropical Agriculture Research and Higher Education in Costa Rica, 75% of the organic coffee in the world comes from South America.

In order to be able to sell coffee as organic must complete a certificate that confirmed approved. It is important that while it meets the following conditions:

  • growth on the ground without the use of pesticides and similar substances three years
  • sufficient protection (gap) between the organic coffee and the nearest traditional culture (also coffee or some other plants),
  • a viable plan of rotation culture as preventing erosion, impoverishment salt and controls (not) their use of pesticides.

Organic coffee is more expensive than non-organic because it requires work harder. And the yield is smaller. In Croatian stores is the indicative price of organic coffee about 60 kuna. There are whole organizations that send inspectors to the scene and the common denominator for  money, and costs. Companies know how to use certificates on their bags in order to justify a higher price and more profit. But the research of the German Stiftung Warentest found that of 17 companies almost none knew the origin of coffee. They did not want to reveal. Why and then, controls and certificates when you do not know one of the main determinants?

Work harder as one reason for the high price of organic coffee certainly stands. Natural ways of manually removing insects and other pests to plants. But again, poor countries spend such a way they do not have funds for machinery or pesticides. The principle of Fairtrade and organic products is clear but a lot which is not good.
